A waxy growth, the croach is the food source of the Vord, devouring living things for nutrition. It is originally found in the Wax Forest, grown and maintained by the Keepers of the Silence. Its consistency can vary, depending upon its environment. It is gelatinous to the touch, and any breaks in the surface will draw Keepers to the spot.
